Selection Process

The selection process for the Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) posts under the Gauhati High Court consists of two stages: a Written Examination and a Viva-Voce (Interview).

The written test will be an OMR-based objective examination carrying a total of 70 marks, with a duration of 1.5 hours. The paper will include questions from General Knowledge/Current Affairs, General English, and General Mathematics (up to Class VIII level), along with an Assamese language section (20 marks).

The Assamese language section is qualifying in nature, and candidates must secure at least 40% marks (8 out of 20) to pass this section. However, marks obtained in this portion will not be counted while preparing the final merit list.

The final selection will be based on the combined performance in the written examination and the Viva-Voce.

Selection Process of Recruitment 2026

The selection process for Computer Assistant posts under the Gauhati High Court is conducted in three stages: Written Examination, Skill Test, and Viva-Voce (Interview).

The written examination carries a total of 120 marks and will be held for a duration of 2 hours. It assesses candidates across multiple areas, including:

  • Technical knowledge (50 marks)
  • English proficiency (20 marks)
  • General Knowledge (20 marks)
  • Aptitude and reasoning (10 marks)
  • Assamese language proficiency (20 marks)

The Assamese language section is qualifying in nature, and candidates must score at least 40% (8 out of 20 marks) to pass. Marks obtained in this section will not be included in the final merit calculation.

There is also a negative marking scheme, where 0.25 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

The Skill Test carries 30 marks, and the Viva-Voce is allotted 20 marks.

Competitive Examination Recruitment 2026

The Skill Test (Paper–II) (20 Marks) shall be of practical nature and shall assess Assamese or Bengali Unicode typing, Basic computer operations, Document preparation and formatting, Data entry, file handling, and printing.
